Day 4

Today was our second day in San Francisco, and we finally got some exercise: we walked from our hotel at Fisherman's Wharf to the Golden Gate Bridge and back – about 9 miles.

We started out by visiting some historic vessels at the Hyde St. pier; then we walked all the way through the Marina Green and the Presidio and to the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge. I mentioned something about it being windy on the bridge when I was here in July, so Noa insisted on carrying a jacket along with her in the bag; we never used it – more on that later.

We had a small lunch at the Golden Gate Café, which should be called the "Thing You Didn't Order Café"; there were two kinds of bagels on the menu. I ordered one, so they gave me the other. Two kinds of soup; Noa ordered one, so they gave her the other. I paid with a $20 bill, so they gave me back $50 as change. Unfortunately, the last statement is the only one that isn't true.

On our way back we passed through the Palace of the Arts, where Noa's decided that we should have had our wedding reception. We fantasized about building a mock Roman palace like that back in Israel for weddings and events, but decided that it'd cost too much to build and we'll never make a profit. Too bad.

We arrived back in the hotel at around 4 pm, and rested our feet for a while; then we boarded one of the historic cable cars that took us to Lombard Street (Noa: I wonder if they call it a historical cable car because it operates so slowly you nearly travel back in time). Our map names it aptly "the crookedest street". I wonder if they built it like that on purpose, as a tourist attraction. I can't see any other reason…

From there we continued to China Town, had a nice dinner, and went back to the hotel.
We should also mention that after Noa carried a jacket with her all morning for no good reason, she decided not to carry one in the evening. She nearly froze! (Noa: Elad means we both nearly froze…).

Tomorrow morning we are going on a tour of "The Rock" – Alcatraz. Should be interesting.

BTW, we know our jokes are corny, but what the hell – we're on holiday!
